Transfashional was conceived as an exhibition-in-progress that began with a series of discursive sessions which included renowned names such as Hussein Chalayan, Naomi Filmer, Lucy Orta, Clemens Thornquist, and José Teunissen. Fostering collaborative and experimental work in each of the previous exhibitions in London, Warsaw, Vienna and Kalmar, Transfashional evolved through a series of new productions which aimed to re-define fashion beyond its conventional notions. This same direction was further explored through the exhibition at the Rimini City Museum which, especially for this occasion, presented several daring fashion artists and designers.
Through my on-going project Excuse My Dust Series, I experimented with various unorthodox dyeing techniques which allude to the process of destruction and decay. Emphasizing this aspects of fabric-treatment, I aimed to raise questions about impact of groundwater pollution by dyeing and bleaching techniques of large textile industries. Yet, patterns created through this procedures strongly echoed sense of ancestral past, connection to the land and it’s natural rhythm of grow and decay.
